Fortune Teller

I have been interested in meeting fortune tellers for a long time. I wonder whether they have supervision or just use some statistics and numbers.

SO, did it! My mission was to see whether the teller used superstition or stats. And the experience was so interesting.

My fortune-teller was a 50-60 year old lady, and her telling way was Four Pillars of Destiny, watching based on birthday.

At first, I felt awkward. It was more like counseling, asked my problems and concerns in detail.

However, to accomplish my mission, I could not talk in detail. Plus the problem was I had no serious concerns and problems in life right at that time.

What I could tell to her was that I had just started a job and wondered about it, and also I had curiosity about fortune-telling thing.

After a mini counseling, she used several charts with Chinese letters linked to my birthday. She first picked letters from my birthday, then picked another letters based on the combination of birthday and the first letters. These works continued until she picked 25 letters.

I had no idea what those letters meant, so just waited in silence.

She suddenly spoke to me like this.

“You should be a fortune-teller, you are born under the star!”

Haha, what a star?.

She continued, “You love to see fortune-telling things.”

I replied yes, but wondered this question definitely came from my action like sitting with her and asked my fortune, I guessed.

Her answers about my fortune were exactly the same as ones in monthly magazines even she said she have me advice because I was like her daughter.

What I found in this experience was the fortune-teller was good at getting information from customers while they looked observing letters. They asked questions casually, and connected every answer in a paper. The Chinese letters should be statistics, like this and this letter combination meant this etc. I understood people could not help telling their ideas and thought (No one felt strange when the nice middle age lady said she felt customers as own child, especially, when they felt desperate in lives).

Well, in conclusion, talking with the teller is hard when one person wants to hide something!
